This illustration was commissioned by Capita.org to accompany a piece written, for them, by Sofia Carozza. Capita is a think tank focused on ensuring families thrive by examining the effects of social and cultural change on children.
Carozza explains how touch is a baby’s first means of sensory input (even in-utero)—and how, through touch, parents communicate, comfort, and stimulate brain development in their child.
For this cover image, I wanted the brain to be the visual focal point, while the parent & child become more ethereal—to some extent blending into one another.
