The Southpaw Collective / Museum Hours illustration

Museum Hours illustration

Description

Commissioned to accompany an essay on mindfulness and investing time in appreciating details, this piece needed to embody stillness and detail. The concept revolves around the immense detail apparent in the whole (trees), and the appreciation and gradual elevation of the granular aspects of the whole (leaf).

To further convey this idea of mindful exploration, the piece was executed using only cut paper. The monochrome feel requires you to pull the detail out of the images, and the texture of the paper and the cuts adds to the since of layers upon layers waiting to be discovered.
